Over a decade after launching my very first website (a self-hosted blog to document my post-college teaching adventures in France), I’m as in love with making things for the internet as ever.
Back in 2010, I was thrilled to know how to set up hosting, connect a custom domain, install WordPress, update stylesheets via FTP, and write enough PHP to be “dangerous.” Since then, through years of agency and freelance work, I’ve gotten my hands on a welcome array of projects that have pushed me to deepen my knowledge of the fundamentals of Web Development while honing complementary skills in Graphic Design, Content Production, and Digital Marketing.
And while, today, in 2024, I do understand better all the fuss about React and Jamstack web apps, I’ve actually come to find that it’s once again a great time to be building with WordPress (and just forget that funky phase in the mid- to late-2010s when installs seemed to require being overrun by page builders and too many plugins).
