Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of summer (gasp!). This makes living in San Francisco much easier for me.
While I’ve spent the last couple months looking forward to weather more amenable to firewood and apple crisp (and while normal people have been reveling in 75-degree days), I couldn’t turn down my friend Phuong’s last ode to the season of sunshine: a day trip to Marshall, a microscopically cute town across the Golden Gate Bridge (a little over an hour from San Francisco proper) that is home to Hog Island Oyster Co. and Cowgirl Creamery headquarters.
Here I could easily slip into the role of summer’s poster child shucking oysters, gnoshing on sausages fresh off the grill, digging into savory scoops of ice cream. And so summer triumphs, even in the ides of October.
